Dealing with workplace complaints – from racial bias to sexual harassment to threats of violence - is a huge part of your job as an HR professional. It’s probably not one of your favorite tasks, either.
You’re dealing with a double-edged sword: You have a clear legal duty to investigate complaints promptly and resolve them fairly – but if you make any mistakes along the way, you could wind up in even more hot water than when you started.
Don’t take unnecessary, easily avoidable risks. Join us for a practical 90-minute webinar to learn the secrets of conducting proper, lawful complaint investigations.
You’ll learn:- The most common types of accusations, complaints, and suspicions that require an investigation
- How to document the initial complaint and set the scope of your investigation from the start
- The step-by-step components of a lawful, successful workplace investigation
- Who should conduct the investigation – and when
- Best practices for documenting the investigation to reduce your legal risks
- The right (and wrong) ways to interview witnesses – and how to deal with those who won’t talk, who don’t seem credible, who gossip about the investigation, or who engage in “he said/she said” accusations
- When it makes sense to bring in outside help, from your attorney and independent investigators to law enforcement officials
- Tips for dealing with touchy situations such as complaints about top executives or off-site incidents
- When (if ever) it’s appropriate to use tactics such as electronic monitoring, searches, polygraph tests, and undercover investigators
- How to decide your next steps once the investigation is completed

| About Webcasts / Audio Conferences / Podcasts: |
Webcasts, audio conferences, and podcasts are presentations that you attend via the Internet, phone, or mobile device at a specified date and time for "live" versions, or at your convenience for "recorded" and "On-Demand" versions.
The live versions are interactive, meaning that participants can ask questions in real time, plus are a very cost-effective form a training because 1) you receive fast, convenient learning without any out-of-office time; 2) you can invite as many colleagues as you'd like to listen in on a single phone line; 3) you incur no travel expenses; and 4) you and your colleagues are back at work immediately after the session ends!
And though with recorded versions you do lose the ability to ask questions, you gain the ability to hear the presentation numerous times and to share it with others in your office.
Handout materials and the phone number for live presentations are made available to you prior to the event via email from the presenter and from the "MyAccount" link on the menu bar. Copies of the presentations are included with recorded versions. |
