There’s a compensation storm brewing in many workplaces around the country:- After a dismal 2009 (when pay raises were anemic, with one in four employers giving no increases at all), employees at all levels have heard the economy is improving – and they’re expecting that good news to hit their paychecks soon
- Meanwhile, many employers’ compensation budgets haven’t budged for 2010 – and BLR’s latest pay survey says general increases this year will average only 1.27 percent, barely up from 2009 levels
As you prepare to deal with these unrealistic expectations, now’s a great time to step back and take a hard look at your existing pay grades in general – gauging how competitive you are in the marketplace, and fixing any out-of-whack grades that may be costing you pay dollars (or valuable workers).
Webinar Learning Objectives:- What you must do right now - before raises are due this year - to manage your workers’ unrealistic expectations
- The factors you should consider in today’s economic climate as you allocate your budgets for pay increases
- How to review - and restructure - your current pay grades to offer compensation that’s competitive and fair in a slowly improving economy
- What you should do with “red circle” and “green circle” employees - and how to retain your best workers who may have hit the top of their grades
- The most effective ways to assign pay grades to different positions across your organization, including tough-to-classify jobs like sales, highly skilled technicians, and top managers
- How to build flexibility into your pay grades as individual workers gain new skills, complete training and certification programs, or hit their performance targets
- Best practices for clearly communicating your pay grade structure to supervisors and rank-and-file employees
- What steps you must follow when you’re proposing pay grade changes to your organization’s executives and board members
- How you can avoid the most common problems with pay grades, from controlling pay grade inflation that can blow up your compensation budget to rooting out inequities that might lead to discrimination claims

| About Webcasts / Audio Conferences / Podcasts: |
Webcasts, audio conferences, and podcasts are presentations that you attend via the Internet, phone, or mobile device at a specified date and time for "live" versions, or at your convenience for "recorded" and "On-Demand" versions.
The live versions are interactive, meaning that participants can ask questions in real time, plus are a very cost-effective form a training because 1) you receive fast, convenient learning without any out-of-office time; 2) you can invite as many colleagues as you'd like to listen in on a single phone line; 3) you incur no travel expenses; and 4) you and your colleagues are back at work immediately after the session ends!
And though with recorded versions you do lose the ability to ask questions, you gain the ability to hear the presentation numerous times and to share it with others in your office.
Handout materials and the phone number for live presentations are made available to you prior to the event via email from the presenter and from the "MyAccount" link on the menu bar. Copies of the presentations are included with recorded versions. |
