Telecommuting’s appeal shows no signs of slowing down – and why would it? Workers enjoy the flexibility and freedom, while employers appreciate the reduced overhead.
More and more workers of all stripes are hopping aboard the telecommuting bandwagon – and that’s where the trouble can start. If you allow non-exempt employees to work from home, you still need to:- Track their comings and goings
- Makse sure their time and making sure it is being calculated correctly
- Verify that they’re not working unauthorized overtime
And if you mis-manage any of this, you could be on the hook for an extremely costly wage/hour lawsuit.
Suddenly, the freedom of telecommuting just got a lot less free. But don’t despair – instead, join us for an in-depth webinar to be sure you’ve got all your telecommuting ducks in a row.
Learning Objectives:- How to develop – and enforce – a legally compliant telecommuting policy
- What to consider in your policy, including overtime, in-office meetings, travel, and other factors
- Who pays for a telecommuting employee’s equipment – and the exceptions to this
- Smart ways to track and record telecommuters’ hours
- What to do if you suspect – or confirm – that a telecommuter is performing unauthorized work
- Tips for handling a telecommuting-related dispute with a minimum of hassle and potential legal exposure

Webcasts, audio conferences, and podcasts are presentations that you attend via the Internet, phone, or mobile device at a specified date and time for "live" versions, or at your convenience for "recorded" and "On-Demand" versions.
The live versions are interactive, meaning that participants can ask questions in real time, plus are a very cost-effective form a training because 1) you receive fast, convenient learning without any out-of-office time; 2) you can invite as many colleagues as you'd like to listen in on a single phone line; 3) you incur no travel expenses; and 4) you and your colleagues are back at work immediately after the session ends!
And though with recorded versions you do lose the ability to ask questions, you gain the ability to hear the presentation numerous times and to share it with others in your office.
Handout materials and the phone number for live presentations are made available to you prior to the event via email from the presenter and from the "MyAccount" link on the menu bar. Copies of the presentations are included with recorded versions. |
