Finding great employees is always a huge challenge – but hanging onto them is even tougher.
Surveys show that more than half of the new hires in the typical U.S. workplace will leave within two years (in fact, one in four will be gone within the first six months). And, now that the economy is slowly improving, those retention problems will only grow worse in 2010 as some of your best workers begin searching for greener pastures elsewhere.
Given how expensive and stressful recruiting new hires can be, it makes sense to focus your efforts on keeping your best workers on the job – “re-recruiting” them, mentoring them, and making sure they feel valued.
This involves more than just a raise, because almost 9 in 10 departing workers leave for reasons other than pay. You must rely on a wide range of strategies (from engaged supervisors and effective recognition programs to training opportunities and one-on-one coaching) to retain your top employees these days.
Learning Objective:- What’s happening around the country with employee retention trends in 2010, as the economy continues recovering
- The primary reasons (besides money) that employees start looking for new jobs
- Which training and mentoring strategies can build long-term relationships with your key employees
- What you can do now to strengthen in-house communications and build a positive culture for retention
- How to enlist your supervisors in keeping workers engaged and focused on staying
- The best ways to provide coaching and feedback for your top employees (without de-motivating them in the process)
- How you can recognize and reward your best workers, even when your budgets are tight

| About Webcasts / Audio Conferences / Podcasts: |
Webcasts, audio conferences, and podcasts are presentations that you attend via the Internet, phone, or mobile device at a specified date and time for "live" versions, or at your convenience for "recorded" and "On-Demand" versions.
The live versions are interactive, meaning that participants can ask questions in real time, plus are a very cost-effective form a training because 1) you receive fast, convenient learning without any out-of-office time; 2) you can invite as many colleagues as you'd like to listen in on a single phone line; 3) you incur no travel expenses; and 4) you and your colleagues are back at work immediately after the session ends!
And though with recorded versions you do lose the ability to ask questions, you gain the ability to hear the presentation numerous times and to share it with others in your office.
Handout materials and the phone number for live presentations are made available to you prior to the event via email from the presenter and from the "MyAccount" link on the menu bar. Copies of the presentations are included with recorded versions. |
