| Description: |
Paying for performance is big business in many U.S. workplaces. Employers now spend almost twice as much on incentive-based compensation as they did 15 years ago – and, in 2010, national surveys say variable pay will account for almost 12 percent of the typical employer’s total compensation budget.
Of course, the devil is in the details. Many employers find their incentives don’t always lead to the behaviors and outcomes they were targeting. Others discover too late that they’re paying out more in incentives than they’re gaining in net profits from their workers’ performances. And if your employees believe your pay-for-performance plans are unfair or unattainable, the results could be devastating.
Webcast Talking Points:- How to lay out your organization’s pay-for-performance plans for maximum results –
from setting clearly defined goals and rewards to communicating the requirements to individual workers and measuring their progress fairly
- The types of incentives that will motivate jaded workers these days (with a special focus on the pros and cons of cash rewards)
- What factors you should consider when combining base salaries with variable pay opportunities
- How to align your workers’ individual performance goals with your organization’s bottom-line objectives
- The key issues to remember in dealing with individual bonuses versus team/group incentives (and with incremental or tiered bonuses versus “all or nothing” incentives)
- How to set variable-pay targets for your top performers alongside bonus goals for your rank-and-file workers as well
- When it makes sense to take corrective measures if you find your incentives aren’t produced the desired results
- The most common mistakes employers make with incentive pay in a recovering economy – and how you can avoid repeating these errors

| About Webcasts / Audio Conferences / Podcasts: |
Webcasts, audio conferences, and podcasts are presentations that you attend via the Internet, phone, or mobile device at a specified date and time for "live" versions, or at your convenience for "recorded" and "On-Demand" versions.
The live versions are interactive, meaning that participants can ask questions in real time, plus are a very cost-effective form a training because 1) you receive fast, convenient learning without any out-of-office time; 2) you can invite as many colleagues as you'd like to listen in on a single phone line; 3) you incur no travel expenses; and 4) you and your colleagues are back at work immediately after the session ends!
And though with recorded versions you do lose the ability to ask questions, you gain the ability to hear the presentation numerous times and to share it with others in your office.
Handout materials and the phone number for live presentations are made available to you prior to the event via email from the presenter and from the "MyAccount" link on the menu bar. Copies of the presentations are included with recorded versions. |
