Why do so many employers struggle these days with unscheduled, unexpected absences by their workers?
Here’s the # 1 reason: Two out of three employees who fail to show up for work aren’t staying home because they’re sick. Recent surveys say that 21 percent miss work to handle “family issues,” another 18 percent are dealing with “personal needs,” and the rest claim they’re stressed or simply need a day off.
With today’s lean workforces, every missing worker cuts productivity and increases the strain on your employees who do show up for work as promised. And, your bottom line takes a hit as well, with $660 in added costs per employee every year due to unscheduled absences.
Join us for this practical 90-minute webinar to learn the most current dos and don’ts for managing paid time off with your workers. Our expert speaker – a very experienced employment attorney – will tell you how you can reduce abusive absenteeism without turning into the “time off police.”
Learning Objectives:- The traditional time-off policies that have proved most effective in reducing surprise absences
- How to introduce – and manage – a PTO bank that combines sick days with holidays, vacations, and “mental health days”
- How your time-off policies may be affected by state and federal laws (such as the latest Family and Medical Leave Act amendments) and by your insurance benefits (e.g., short-term disability)
- The options you should consider when a worker has exhausted his or her leave but still needs time off due to hardships or emergencies
- How to handle PTO carryover (and how to cash out unused days when an employee terminates)
- The best techniques for communicating new leave policies to your workers and encouraging their buy-in

| About Webcasts / Audio Conferences / Podcasts: |
Webcasts, audio conferences, and podcasts are presentations that you attend via the Internet, phone, or mobile device at a specified date and time for "live" versions, or at your convenience for "recorded" and "On-Demand" versions.
The live versions are interactive, meaning that participants can ask questions in real time, plus are a very cost-effective form a training because 1) you receive fast, convenient learning without any out-of-office time; 2) you can invite as many colleagues as you'd like to listen in on a single phone line; 3) you incur no travel expenses; and 4) you and your colleagues are back at work immediately after the session ends!
And though with recorded versions you do lose the ability to ask questions, you gain the ability to hear the presentation numerous times and to share it with others in your office.
Handout materials and the phone number for live presentations are made available to you prior to the event via email from the presenter and from the "MyAccount" link on the menu bar. Copies of the presentations are included with recorded versions. |
